MoPro is a company Based in the USA, California and they offer services that include design, development and hosting your website. Not long time ago I had the chance to support on of sites hosted by MoPro on their servers and managed by their CMS.
MoPro’s marketing strategy would be very attractive, to have a company take care of everything for you without you worrying about installing plugins that work, purchasing individual licenses, themes, etc.. And that would be true if only the CMS was built with a bigger picture than it currently has. It’s severely lacking in many aspects. but don’t get me wrong, it’s a very solid effort but does not reflect how they market themselves. This as yet a model pushed out to market and overhauls are discreetly being worked in, no proof to help such endeavors, even under the least favorable conditions they truly don’t realize where to go from where they’ve gotten to and this is as well as can be expected be normal which is honestly disillusioning in light of the fact that there is some potential here. Here are few facts:
THE FACT SHEET
1. Didn’t they hear about freedom of expression?
Working with their built-in framework I would state they remain by their motto. You truly can’t do much or tweak anything all alone without their help. I comprehend cloud-based administrations however in any event, no less than an apparatus to set some worldwide settings for the styling like change the shade of the connections on the menu ought to be given. An errand as straightforward as making your menu joins striking requires calling the help group or email them. You can’t change the headings to different size or some other tag, no range, no paragraphs or simple text, no containers.
2. It is Microsoft based, but these developers don’t make documentation
Amid the help procedure, one divider that we continued hitting is the outrageous absence of documentation, there are no appropriate instructional exercises, the Knowledge-base is non-existent, at the season of composing this post, the network bolster frames are unfilled which I find rather interesting that nobody at any point made an inquiry ever?. Then again Email is by a long shot the most exceedingly awful method for reaching them. The answers are postponed by days, a call is vastly improved, yet with no every minute of every day bolster all crisis issues, crashes need to hold up till the MoPro office opens and they are shut on ends of the week on the grounds that no one but they can help with such issues, your own enlisted Dev group is left stranded because of the limitations.
3. SEO – Google does not like your site!
All blog posts will have the same generic SEO information as main Blog page!
4. The Cookie Murders
WELL, THESE GUYS KNOW HOW TO END THE PARTY! All sections on a page are the same cookie cutter forms of information, an image container, text block or galleries….. the text will have a heading, a subheading, text, and right aligned image and a button in the bottom. You are locked into a single format with no option to customize the style in any significant way.
5. Causing psychological trauma
The Simplest undertakings can take a considerable amount of time. Imagine that!
I really like the fact that the System is built on ASP.net but asp.net Webforms on their own are slow and not very user-friendly even with Ajax. case in point outlook.com vs Gmail. With the absence of Javascript, Angular JS or any similar Client side scripting that allows for better UX (user experience), we have to end up adapting to a different way of using the CMS as opposed to something more intuitive, this shows that very little thought was put into the UX design.
CLOSING ARGUMENT.
MoPro is not a smart choice for anyone who plans to make changes to their site on regular basis or thinks of adapting to an ever-changing environment web standards. Higher end Rent-A-Sites, such as mopro.com, will build a very nice site for you, if you sign a contract and are willing to invest $200 – $300 mo. Your upfront costs are minimal and you get a beautiful site with severe restrictions. They own and control the site, and SEO is limited. On the downside, you could find yourself in a similar situation to this mopro customer comment in the yelp review below:
“Steer clear of these guys. They put a lot of focus on marketing and selling the service, but virtually none into support. We stuck with it for the year commitment, but cancelled when we couldn’t upload pics and modify the site ourselves. Here we are 4 months later, and I can’t get them to stop charging my card, having to dispute with AMEX and get them to follow through on their commitments. They are all about pretty videos and pictures, but no substance. Don’t sign up!”
Not sure, for more than 2k per year, you definitely can build your own site in WP purchasing a theme, building your own components and spending less!
